Win-Win, Or No Deal!

I’m sure most of you are familiar with that statement, or some variation of it. My message today is inspired by that statement and some of the ways I have seen it appear in my life lately.

I was recently fortunate to attend the 2 days of the Fearless Living Tour in Vancouver, BC, and I saw plenty of win-win-ing going on there. Right from the very start, the attendees and presenters were playing at such a high level, it was totally inspiring. The information shared was in-depth, thought-provoking, and useful stuff that people could take away and apply to their lives and businesses right away.

This high-level atmosphere continued for 2 whole days, and it was so incredibly fulfilling to be a part of the event.

I arrived they day before the event, and got to spend some time at a RE/MAX office in Maple Ridge, BC, with my awesome friend and mentor Debbie Stevens. Deb is not only my friend and mentor, she is a friend and mentor to all who are associated with her offices, and they all go above and beyond for her, her business partner Bjorn, and her office manager, Darcy. How I saw the win-win in her office was when all the staff just jumped right in to offer their help with anything that was needed, going far outside their job descriptions. I go to quite a few real estate offices, and I certainly don’t get the same feeling in most-all of them.

Over the days I was in Vancouver, I was privileged to spend time with Dave Jenks, Laurie Hathorn, John Alexandrov, and Michael Friedman. What really impressed me from my time with those leaders of the real estate industry was their complete openness and sharing and their sincere interest in the people they spoke with throughout the days. On top of that, the way they included me in their conversations, taking a genuine interest in me and my life, made me feel absolutely great to be in their company.

I saw lots of other win-win situations over my time in Vancouver, from the store clerk at the Dragon Shop on Grenville Island, to the gondola pilot on the way up Grouse Mountain and the girl at Starbucks who was born in the same small village of 250 people that I lived in during my childhood in England. Everyone was so interested in being sure we had everything we needed, and was having fun doing it.

Sure, win-win applies in your business dealings, but I think it applies equally in the stuff you do away from your clients.

Do you need some help getting ahead this year? The second quarter is about to begin – are you on track to keeping the promises you made for this year?

Call me, let’s talk.
